You asked. We built it.

"it's still just a text-based list ... doesn't give you any sense of 'how much of my day is taken up', 'when are the gaps'"

r/thingsapp, about a to-do app

"Doesn't keep any tasks where I move them and moved everything around constantly."

App Store review of an AI planner

"This is the slowest, most unusable app I use. Its clearly a web app wrapped into a native wrapper."

How it works

From one sentence to a day that fits.

  1. The chat's field while dictating, dark: Listening 0:05, and the request appearing as it is said: add a reply to Jo about pricing, a call to the bank and two hours for the board slides.

    1Say what's on your plate.

Type it or say it. Your voice is recognized right on your Mac.

  2. A card with three new tasks and their times, what they do to the day and the weeks, and the Reject and Apply buttons, dark.

    2ALT finds the hours.

Each task gets a time between your meetings, inside your working hours. What doesn't fit goes to a day with room.

  3. The day after Apply, dark: Reply to Jo about pricing at 12:00 and Call the bank at 14:30, marked as new, between the meetings.

    3You tap Apply.

The tasks land in your day, marked as new. Nothing changes before you tap Apply, and Undo puts it all back.

Plans change? Say it again, and ALT re-plans the rest of the day.

Capture

Throw it in. ALT sorts it out.

Do your work and drop anything into ALT as it comes up. Your Inbox stops being a graveyard: ask the assistant to sort it, and every task gets a project and a day. You tap Apply.

Works today

  • Quick Entry from any appPress ⌥Space wherever you are, type the task and press Return. "tomorrow 2h" sets the day and the estimate.
  • Sort the Inbox"Sort my inbox." A project and a day for each task, on one card.
  • Say an idea out loudDictate a call, an errand or an idea. It lands as a task, with a time if you want one.
  • From Claude Code or CodexAsk them to add tasks or notes while you work. They show up marked as new.
  • From a meetingAdd to Tasks turns a meeting into a task, and it keeps up when the meeting moves.

Coming Soon

  • Links, emails and filesA task with a link back to the page, email or file you have open.
  • Screenshots and the Share menuShare a screenshot of a chat, get the tasks in it.
  • An assistant that remembersIt learns how you plan and suggests changes before the day slips.

Features

Your time, counted in hours.

Meetings come from your calendars, and every task has its hours. The day, the week, the month and the year all add up the same way.

One task, as many time blocks as it needs.

Drag a task onto the timeline. Big work can take an hour before your 9:00 meeting and two after it. Each block says which part it is, and the task stays one task in its project. More about time blocking

The Day in ALT, dark: the plan for the day on the left and the timeline on the right, with tasks in blue blocks between the meetings from the calendar.

See Thursday's overload on Monday.

Each day of the week shows planned hours against the hours you have, minus meetings.

Two days of a week in ALT, dark: Wednesday 4.5 of 5.5 hours, Thursday 6.5 of 5.5 hours, over by 1 hour, in red.

Your calendars, on your day.

iCloud, Google and Outlook calendars from your Mac. Drag a meeting on the timeline, and it moves in your calendar too. Need to prepare? Turn the meeting into a task.

A meeting's card in ALT, dark: Design review, 11:00-12:00, from the Work calendar in Google, counts as busy for 1 hour of today's window, with the buttons Add to Tasks and Open in Calendar.

The month and the year at a glance.

Give a project its months and a task its week. The year shows every project's months and how many run at once, so a crowded November shows up in September.

The Year in ALT, dark: projects by area with their months, and the number of projects each month, with a peak of 6 in November.

Claude and Codex, connected.

ALT runs a local MCP server on your Mac. Claude Code and Codex can read and change your plan and notes. What they add is marked as new, and every change can be undone. How it works

  • Claude Code
  • Codex
  • MCP
ALT after Claude Code added a task, dark: a You have 1 new task banner with OK, and Buy hosting marked with a dot in the plan for the day.

Notes next to your projects.

Areas, projects with sections, and notes in a built-in outliner: checklists, photos and links. Export them to Markdown any time.

Native

Feels like a Mac app, because it is one.

Many planners are a web page packed as an app. ALT is built in SwiftUI, Apple's own framework, so it opens fast, scrolls smoothly and works the way your Mac does.

  • 0.12 sto switch between Day, Week, Month and Year
  • 16 msper letter while you type, so nothing lags

Measured in our tests on a plan with 550 tasks.

  • A light tap on the trackpad when a task lands in its place.
  • Drag a task, and a gap opens where it will go.
  • Right-click anything for its actions. Light and dark mode.

Questions

When does the beta start?

We're sending test builds in small groups, starting with Mac. Join the list, and we'll send you one soon.

Which devices does ALT run on?

Mac with macOS 14 Sonoma or later. iPhone and iPad (iOS 17 or later) join the beta in December, and an Apple Watch app comes after them. ALT is built only for Apple devices, so there's no Windows or Android version.

Does it work with Google Calendar and Outlook?

Yes. ALT reads the calendars you've added to Apple's Calendar app, including iCloud, Google and Outlook accounts, and plans around your meetings. Move a meeting on ALT's timeline, and it moves in your calendar too. Blocks of tasks can go to a calendar you pick, as busy events.

What does the assistant see?

Only what it needs to answer, and only when you ask it something: your tasks, hours, meetings and notes. With an Anthropic key it can also search the web. Dictation is recognized on your device. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Do I need my own AI key?

For now, yes. In the beta the assistant runs on your own Anthropic, OpenAI or OpenRouter key, and requests go straight from your device to that service. We're working on a version that needs no key.

Where is my data stored?

On your Mac. Your plan lives in a database on your device, and there's no sync yet. The assistant gets your plan only when you ask it something.

What isn't there yet?

Sync between your Mac and iPhone, tasks from screenshots and reminders before a block starts. They're on the way, and beta testers will hear first.

How much will it cost?

The beta is free. ALT will have paid plans after the beta, and beta testers will get special terms. We'll share prices before the launch. Details are on the Pricing page.

Who makes ALT?

Dmitrii Bugaev, a product manager who uses ALT every day. Questions go straight to the maker: [email protected].
